I’M ECSTATIC Although my december holidays officially starts on the 12th but I self declared holidays on the 8th! Hehh this trip to China is OUTTA SIGHT! I was captivated by China’s beauty.. It’s like heaven on earth.
I left UK on the 8th of December and arrived at Shanghai at 8.05 in da morning!! The morning wind is literally like a knife piercing my cheeks as Daddy and I walked to the car. The coldness compared to UK is astonishingly different! UK’s coldness is bearable but China’s coldness will indeed freeze you to your bones. Haa you guys have to experience it yourself to tell the difference. 4 degrees in China is unbearable compared to -3 degrees in UK. Well I didnt actually sleep in the flight because I was busy talking to this chinese lady haaa and mind you, KLM’s food is awfully disgusting! But despite of my tireness, I wanna embrace this chinese culture and get involved in the chinese ambience almost immediately.

5 hours of waiting in London Heathrow and guess what did I do?

HAHAHA.. watched some old reruns of 5566 on my laptop! OLD SCHOOL.

In Schiphol Airport Amsterdam waiting for my connecting flight to Shanghai
Shanghai is developing very rapidly. I will get suprises every each time I go back.

This is our old house 菊園 and guess what is the english name?

Look at the air pollution! SO FOGGY.

Ooohh.. My durian puff! However, the durian doesnt have a very distinct taste.

Daddy’s dessert taste so much better – Grass jelly with green bean.
Daddy kept drawing my attention to the flowers outside the shop and kept asking if the display is pleasing. Apparantly he was the one who decorated it. = =” okayy GOOD JOB DADDY. The flowers really beautify the place.

Old Shanghai street, Cheng Huang Temple.

Look at me!! Qued for 15 minutes to buy Shanghai Xiao Long Bao!! This shop supposedly to be really famous and the Xiao Long Baos are delicious! Worth the wait.. hehh

16 crab meat xiao long bao cost only 20RMB!! How cheap is that?!!

Hahhaah daddy happily posing with the Xiao Long Baos. It’s like scoring victory in a battle!

Sally, Jason, my brother and I went to Party World to sing KTV! Party World in China is literally like a palace, very grand and really massive! So many rooms!!

Hehh meet my cousin, Jason Tan.

Did I mention that if you top up 10 RMB each person you get BUFFET as well?!!

Look at the food! We ate for 2 whole hours man..

This is what happened after Jason is stuffed.
Daddy driving us to breakfast.

Daddy said the garden looks dull without any colours therefore we went to the garden to get some flowers back.

After gardening, Daddy and I decided to chilax at home eating dessert while watching movie.

Q. Can you guess what movie were we watching?
Bruda came home after work and brought us to this authentic korean restaurant!!

And korean style fried rice cake! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA ^^v
Driving to Zhou Zhuang (周莊)a historical ancient town.

This is bean curd. The only difference is that the bean curd is much more smoother and has two different flavour – salty and sweet.

I did one which reads 趙慧俐 on the rice.

Daddy bought dragon beard candy.

Traffic jam at the toll station on our way back home!

We went for dinner at this SiChuan restaurant! THE FOOD – MO TAK DING (cantonese)

Fried chicken with chilli and spices and mo po tofu! It makes my mouth water just by looking at the picture.
The weather is fantastic today and I decided to get a feel of Shanghai’s public transport system.

The trains are amazingly clean.. Comparable to SMRT. ![]()

Lunch @ Xiao Shao Xin Restaurant which is renowned for it’s chicken.

Ohh ohhh! We had STEAMBOAT for dinner. Bruda and I went to Carrefour to get all our ingredients and there he is busy chopping up the veggies.

DAY 8 – YANG SHUO
Xiao Yang our tour guide gave us a morning call at 6.30am and we got up to have breakfast and left for Guilin harbour at 7.30am. The morning was bitter cold and the wind was howling like crazy. My teeth were clattering all the time. Our first scenic spot in Guilin is LiJiang River. It travels 83 kilometres exactly like a jade ribbon winding among thousands of grotesque peaks. There were spectacular landscapes alongs the river banks. The river winds like a blue silk ribbon while the hills erect like green jade hairpins is best said to describe LiJiang River. Then we went to Yu Long River, West Street and then watched Impression Liu San Jie!

We were supposed to cruise along the river in those boats at the back.

We went to the deck to take pictures. BOY AM I COLD.

Yes yes you can tell I’m chilled to the bone.. I cant even feel my hands and legs.

There’s a water buffalo eating the seaweed in the river.

Speciality on board – LiJiang Fish and locally grown veggie.

The cam whoring continues after lunch.

Here we are in Yang Shuo, after 3 hours of boat ride. This is Yang Shuo harbour.

After the LiJiang River cruise, we went to Yu Long River where we sat in these rafts made of bamboo and enjoy the scenery along the river.

It’s amazing how these bamboo sticks kept me afloat!

The person at the back is not a “HAN”. He is a minority group called the zhuang zu (狀族). The Zhuangs are relatively darker in skin tone. Their lifestyle is really simple which consist of rowing boats, fishing or working in a farm.

Breath-taking.. Exactly like in the chinese paintings.

I was seriously afraid that this bamboo raft will topple over and I will drop into the icy waters.

Sat in a boat again and tour the ancient caves.

Back to Yang Shuo county. It’s a really small town and relied mainly on tourism to survive. The town is underdeveloped but it is popular with foreign backpackers.

This is West Street where all the pubs and restaurants are.. You will see lots of foreigners especially Amercians loitering here.

Traditional Yang Shuo small eatery.

Lotus root paste.. Look at how gooey the texture is! HEHEHE

West Street in the background.

Part of LiJiang River beside West Street..

We ended that night watching Impression Liu San Jie, a musical on water directed by Zhang Yi Mo.
DAY 9 – YANG SHUO TO GUI LIN
woke up at 8am had breakfast and left the hotel at 9am to 世外桃源, Shangri-La. Then drove and arrived at Gui Lin at 12pm for lunch followed by Elephant Hill Mountain and ended the night Liu San Jie musical.

This is the miao minority (苗族).

This is Shangri-La, the fairyland of my dream – the forgotten homeland.

We took the river cruise which brought us around Swallow lake for 25 minutes.

This is how they make their clothes. HANDMADE MADE IN CHINA.

would you just look at the harmonious background? I wish i could just build a house beside the lake and stay there forever! Away from earthly matters.

This is elephant Trunk Mountain.

Does that mountain behind me resembles an elephant?

The view of Gui Lin town from our room.

This woman is the one who first acted as Liu San Jie around 50 years ago. Now she’s about 60+. Daddy said he’ve watched the show more than 5 times.
DAY 10 GUI LIN
Last day in Gui Lin.. We woke up at 8am had breakfast and went to the town centre called zhong shan zhong road to buy local delicacies. Then Xiao Yang came and brought us to Fu Bo Mountain, Seven Star Park and Lu Di Cave.

Sword-testing stone in Fu Bo Mountain.

Camel hill in Seven Star Park.

thousand year old tortise in reed flute cave.

Daddy bought a banana for 10 RMB and asked me to feed the tortise. But I think it’s full.. Didnt eat the banana in the end. :/

This is 小楊 our tour guide. Guess how he call me? = =” 趙妹妹 and I’m supposed to call him 楊哥哥 because he’s older than me by 2 years.
omg man this sounds like those chinese dramas!! Luckily he’s cute I tell u!! Hahahahahahahaa
)

Daddy and Xiao Yang busy talking about gou tong again. :/

Finally.. Dinner @ Gui Lin airport before heading back to Shanghai.
DAY 11 – SHANGHAI
Today Daddy brought me to do groceries shopping and I’ve bought LOTS OF FOOD back!! Hahahah we then enjoy a relaxing evening watching hong kong dramas at home with Jason while eating KFC!
DAY 12 – HANGZHOU
Daddy drove us to Hangzhou early in the morning. We then met up with Ah Bing and he brought us around Ling Yin Temple and West Lake. Later that night we went to Ah Bing’s house to visit his parents..

The sun is setting while we took this picture. Daddy wanted to capture this moment so this is what happened..

Can you even find the sun? = =”!

Hangzhou local delicacies~ Tang Bao, Chicken feet, Sweeten lotus root stuffed with glutinous rice and red bean paste.
DAY 13 – SHANGHAI TO LONDON
The snow in Europe is terrible!! Many flights are therefore delayed because of the weather and my poor induction cooker is left stranded in Amsterdam. KLM better sent it over ASAP!! Grrr.. I was forced to wait in Heathrow from 1am until 7.15am before I took the coach to Bristol. The weather in UK is ridiculous but the sight of snow is comforting. What a tiring day! Now that I’ve finally finished blogging, I CAN FINALLY GET SOME SLEEP. GOOD NIGHT EARTHLINGS I’m going to bed now and dream about 一個比傳説跟美的地方~ <3
